# Mauritius Buses

> Online route enquiry for the public buses of Mauritius: 274 bus lines, 789 stops, a journey planner that computes the best route (and alternatives) between two stops for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays/holidays, with estimated travel time and fares. Data: the official timetables published by the National Land Transport Authority; no real-time positions.

## How to use this site as an agent

- Journey planner JSON: `GET https://www.mauritius-buses.com/api/route?day=0&from=<stop id or name>&to=<stop id or name>` (day 0 weekdays, 1 Saturdays, 2 Sundays & holidays; `fv=0`/`tv=0` to use only the given stop (default: also stops within ~600 m walking distance; a village name means the whole village); `rm=198,9` to avoid lines). Names may be stop names or village names; ambiguous names return candidates (HTTP 409).
- Stop search: `GET https://www.mauritius-buses.com/api/stops?q=grand+baie`; all stops: `/api/stops`.
- Lines: `GET https://www.mauritius-buses.com/api/lines`, one line with its stops: `/api/lines/198` (use `-` for `/`: line 2/2A is `/api/lines/2-2A`).

## Facts worth knowing

- Fares (adult) run from 5 to 21 MUR per bus depending on the number of fare stages; children and students pay less. No through tickets: pay again on every bus.
- Buses run roughly 5:30–20:00 in towns and 6:30–18:30 in the countryside; the last airport buses leave the airport between 18:15 and 19:25.
- Port Louis has two main stations: Victoria Square (south) and Immigration Square (north), a short walk apart.
